I’m a dyed-in-the-wool Logan’s Rush fan, if such a thing exists, and was cheerful to gape the film released to DVD. The transfer looks broad, and the letterboxed format preserves the blooming cinematography. The acting is, by and mammoth, splendid righteous. Michael York, Jenny Agutter and Richard Jordan are all in aesthetic effect. Peter Ustinov chews scenery in his portions of the film, but isn’t that what you keep him in a movie for? The visual effects won an Oscar benefit in ‘76, pre-Star Wars. I would set their quality somewhere above Marooned, but below 2001:a Situation Oddyssey. The Aerial idea of the city that opens the film looks really cheesy, but the Carrousel sequence is downright eerie. It is even more grand when you learn that the whole sequence was done in-camera, on-set with no compositing aside from the white beam of light that emanates from the ceiling. The compositing and matte paintings are breathtaking. The film takes a lot of flak for its costumes and for looking like it was shot in a shopping mall. I believe the costumes are moot–who know what we’ll be wearing in the future? These people live in a hedonistic, weather-free society. It stands to reason that they would be very revealing and purely cosmetic for those very reasons. As far as the behold of the sets goes–this is a materialistic, consumer-mad, hermetically sealed society that the film portrays–of course its going to contemplate like a shopping mall. The film is not exactly an right representsation of the events in the book (something I wouldn’t mind seeing someday) . Budgetary, time and technological constraints would made doing so impossible at the time. Calm, it holds up well on its bear merits. One last note: Am I the only one who finds the esteem epic angle of this movie touching? It’s bewitching to study two people experiencing savor for the first time, especially in the world portrayed in Logan’s Bustle, where people don’t have lasting emotional ties to one another. What the treasure record kind of implies is that this is the first time in hundreds of years that people have notion and felt in terms of strong emotions for each other. In an era like our fill where the word is bandied about so noteworthy as to be meaningless, it’s refreshing to gawk a future where its meaning is rediscovered.

Logan’s Speed started off with a ravishing astounding concept–(courtesy of science fiction writers William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson) what if our youth obsessed society achieve everyone over the age of 30 (21 in the fresh) to death as a means of population control? This film version of a classic cautionary yarn is intermittantly successful. David Zelag Goodman’s screenplay condenses and changes around several key characters. Goodman’s script essentially refocuses the recent into The Fugitive in the future. In the modern modern Francis (played brilliantly by the tedious Richard Jordan) and the Frail Man character (played as befuddled by Peter Ustinov) were one and the same. You’ll need to read the original to leer why this was an notable altered spot point.

Additionally, Sanctuary did exist in the modern while here it’s distinct that it’s something of an urban chronicle. While these state points might not seem necessary, altering them radically reshaped the film. Detached, it’s distinct that the film’s director, producer and screenwriter (respectively, Michael Anderson the slow Saul David and Goodman) wanted to streamline what could have been a confusing spot if not layed out correctly.

The basic plot–In the future our society is enclosed in domes. As a means to control the population, everyone has a life clock crystal on their hand. When you near 30 you have the option to become “renewed” in a ceremony attended by the citizens. Logan (Michael York) and Francis (Richard Jordan) are Sandmen who hunt, capture/or destroy runners (people who settle to not go through renewal and try to hasten) .

After one incident, Logan is debriefed by the computer that runs the city. The runner wore a symbol representing life. During this debriefing he is send undercover to become a “runner” and rep out 1) Who is leisurely the network that tries to gain people out of the city and 2) If sanctuary exists. Logan’s life clock is prematurely venerable to 30. He contacts a girl who he had met before on the circuit (a system where people can “dial up” others for casual sex) who he had seen wearing the same symbol. Despite her better judgement, she elects to succor him dash.

Francis, shrinking that his friend is running, elects to dawdle him and either bring him encourage for renewal or slay him.

The film is quite satisfactory despite some gaping station holes. Michael York gives a impassioned performance as Logan 5. Jenny Agutter is consuming as Jessica. Richard Jordan shines as Logan’s ragged partner Francis who feels betrayed and hunts Logan down. Roscoe Lee Brown is exceptional in his cameo as the demented cyborg Box. Michael Anderson, Jnr. gives a nice cameo performance as the surgeon hired to alter Logan’s appearence. Made for $6 million, Logan’s Race looked quite genuine when it was released in 1976. The symbolism of having Francis and Logan fight in the House of Representatives with an American flag was quite evident given the year of release (1976) .

In many respects the themes in the film are more timely than ever. The obsession with youth, looking proper and plastic surgery have approach to elaborate our culture in the 21st Century. The only thing missing from the film are botox injections.

Jerry Goldsmith’s lustrous derive is a highlight of the film. Like his derive for Planet of the Apes, Goldsmith chose to go with a mix of sythesizers and orchestra to represent the city of the future. He eschews cliches in his music and the various themes and cues are at turns suspenseful and witty. The optical effects are lovely superb given the time. The matte paintings by Albert Whitlock are outstanding and fairly convincing. The miniatures are a mixed bag. They didn’t survey completely convincing in 1976 nor do they today. Share of the pickle has to do with the fact that waters don’t fare well when placed in miniatures. You can’t miniaturize the bubbles and water drops. Also, the exhaust of the miniatures in combination with live action is quite grainy due to the film stock and amount of composites. Peaceful, if you can suspend your disbelief, you’ll delight in the film despite its limitations.

Logan’s Urge attempted to instruct an adult cautionary chronicle in a world of light weight escapist movies. It’s a commendable film and the film makers frequently bite off more than they can chew. I’d rather have a film that’s too ambitious than not at all.

Still, I indulge in the ambitions if not the execution. It’s nice to finally have this sparkling if flawed movie on DVD. The transfer is quite worthy although the print has a number of flaws. There’s also quite a bit of dirt evident on the print. These probably could have been cleared up with a bid digital transfer. Additionally, the 5.1 soundtrack occasionally sounds “tinny” and when played in the stereo format can be quite difficult to hear.

The extras are diminutive but nice. The commentary by director Michael Anderson and Michael York is quite kindly and informative. A pity the terrific actor Richard Jordan isn’t around any longer to give us his perspective. I would have liked to stare a current retrospective documentary on the making of the film. It’s not likely to happen, though as no one is going to champion this film at the expensive of other newer projects (particulary since producer Saul David is gone) . The featurette included is the unique one made to promote the film. It’s actually comely decent given the age and purpose of it. The trailer is included as well. The disc is a dual sided single layer DVD with the widescreen and pan & scan versions on the same disc.

As you likely know, if you’re reading this, Listless Alive is fairly widely regarded as the goriest movie ever made. Having not seen every movie ever made I’m not prepared to enlighten it as such, but it’s certainly the goriest movie I’ve ever seen. By far. To give you a bit of perspective, I would say Day of the Boring and Riki-Oh probably advance closest of the films I’ve seen, and Humdrum Alive has got to be at least 5 times gorier than either of those films.(And that’s probably a conservative estimate) This fact alone should design it mandatory viewing for anyone keen in Anxiety films.(Of course, this isn’t actually a scare film; I don’t mediate it genuinely tries to be scary even once. But, the gore-comedy is primarily of interest to scare fans, naturally)

As one would ask, this film has it’s roots in Re-Animator and the Injurious Plain films, but it manages to accumulate it’s maintain style and tone. Ghastly Dreary II was wildly over-the-top and energetic while Re-Animator was radiant subdued and deadpan mighty of the time. Humdrum Alive, directed by the now highly eminent and lauded Peter Jackson, is somewhere in between, certainly not as controlled as Re-Animator, but nowhere come as flat out unusual and kinetic as Unpleasant Tedious II.(at least not from beginning to kill.) And yeah it’s fine droll, though perhaps the majority of the non-gore related humor tends to plunge flat. It’s also more purely good-natured and fun-loving than any of those films.(Perhaps this is related to their Original Zealand accents) I don’t know if it’s necessarily better than any of those films, it’s a tough call, but they’re all in the same league, and fans of one ought to like the others.

Inspiration is frequently in short supply in the non-zombie related scenes, but their are enough zombie scenes that it doesn’t matter too mighty. The characters are extremely enormous caricatures, including the cute, naive cherish interest, the dorky, buttoned down hero, the imperfect controlling mother and the conniving, greedy and chauvinistic uncle. Naturally characters don’t matter a whole helluva lot in this film, but, for what it’s worth, both Paquita and Lionel are reasonably likable as the protagonist. The film ain’t remarkable on status either, as it’s fair considerable honest a series of droll scenes fascinating Lionel’s attempts to maintain the zombie outbreak a secret, and then their collective attempts to simply waste them. Personally, I secure this structural format to be perfectly beautiful. The less dwelling the better, when it comes to this sort of film.

The gore is so ridiculous and over-the-top that it’s hard to imagine how anyone could be offended by it, though it is quite sinister at times. The gore itself particularly reminds of the modern Immoral Listless, as it emphasizes goo and moistness, and the zombies glance fairly reminiscent of the demon-possessed individuals from that film. Although the gore isn’t nor is it trying to be realistic, the execution is often more professional and well done than I would’ve anticipated. Going into too many specifics would be terribly time titillating, but their are a few things that request pointing out. The single best gore execute would have to be towards the beginning of the film, when the nurse gets her head ripped off. (most of the intention, anyway) And, the remarkable well-known lawnmower massacre towards the raze of the film is classic, and has some surprisingly nicely done effects to go along with the sheer over-the-top insanity of the scene.(The effects I’m referring, in specific, to some of the shots of the limbs getting shredded into nothingness) And, the stop-motion enchanting sumatran rat monkey is quite fun as well.

Yeah, this movie is glorious sizable. Not quite the all time highpoint in gore, in my mind, however. I mediate that Riki-Oh is funnier on the gore front, and am more impressed by some more serious films that point to more realistic gore. But Stupid Alive peaceful does what it does very well.

You might advance in with the nefarious expectations for this movie, it’s primarily reputation is for it’s gore. Which is deserved, even in the more widely available slightly-tamed down version that’s more commonly available in the US, by the extinguish of the film nearly every race of the mask is covered in blood and guts. But don’t neccesarily inquire of something repugnant because of this, the movie is overall more comical than scary, from the ridiculous premise for the zombies’ origin (a cursed Samarian rat-monkey imported to Novel Zealand) to the myriad bizarre and quirky characters and of course a lot of gross-out humor. At times it almost resembles what would happen if Monty Python made a zombie movie and ran as far with the blood and gore as they possibly could.

You’ll devour this movie if the following apply to you:

1) the phrases “karate priest”, “baby zombie”, and “rat-monkey” piqued your interest.

2) You liked Wrong Humdrum II and Army Of Darkness, and are definitely not in the camp that the series went downhill once Sam Raimi started adding in amusing elements

3) You’re not at all squeamish about blood and enjoy completely over-the-top bordering on implausible gory death scenes.

4) You have a general taste for cheesy b-movies.

Probably the most dismal thing that ever happened to `Citizen Kane’ was that it found itself atop the AFI top film list. Now, no one can simply appreciate the film. Everyone feels compelled to recognize it and build a decision about its greatness. Asking whether `Citizen Kane’ is the best film of the century is like asking if Marilyn Monroe was the most blooming woman. It depends on whom you ask.

`Citizen Kane’ is not the most gripping film I’ve ever seen, but it is certainly one of the most notable. It is a vanguard motion record and a expansive achievement for Orson Welles. If you judge the fact that Welles was a 24 year primitive Hollywood outsider who had only done radio and theater when he landed the contract for this film, you inaugurate to bask in what a ample deal it was. This was during a time when a few studios controlled every film that was made. How many 24 year feeble actor/directors can you name today, even in a world where independents abound?

The chronicle is based on the life of William Randolph Hearst. Writer Herman Mankiewicz had an up-close gawk at Hearst as he had been an occasional house guest at the Hearst mansion. The similarities were striking, moral down to the paramour whose career Hearst promoted, who loved to do jigsaw puzzles. The fact that this film was released at all is a marvel in itself. Hearst went on a personal campaign to crush the film and enlisted every grand friend he had to end it. Louis B. Mayer offered RKO $800,000 to kill the print. John D. Rockefeller ordered the Radio City premier cancelled. All of Hearst’s newspapers were forbidden to mention the film.

Hollywood was uniformly against it and Welles was branded an insolent maverick. The film was snubbed by the Academy. It was nominated for 9 Oscars and won only best screenplay. The film turned out to be a commercial failure, losing $150,000. With all the forces stacked against it, we are lucky to be having this best film debate at all.

The sage has a simple moral; that money and power can’t acquire happiness. We spy Kane’s progress from a tickled child, to an idealistic young journalist intent on helping the favorite man, and finally to a bitter and mad feeble man whose innocence has slipped from him. One of the most effective scenes that illustrated this was the two tiny overlay of breakfast conversations with his wife. It starts with cooing lovers and progresses through increasing levels of discord. It ends in silence with the two reading separate newspapers, her disdain for him subtly indicated by her choice of the hated Record as her newspaper.

What is so considerable about this film is the filmmaking. Director after director has pointed to some aspect of this film as having influenced them. The utilize of shadows and various perspective shots was not unprecedented in 1941, but never before had they been primitive with so great dramatic impact. What was unprecedented was that `Citizen Kane’ was the first film ever to move from the strict epic format, which moves forward chronologically. The film starts at the slay and jumps around in time based upon the perspective of the person who is telling his or her epic about Kane. So the next time you contemplate a flashback, remember it started here.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Citizen Kane! Click Here

The makeup was revolutionary. Welles often went through four hours or more of makeup to be properly extinct for each scene. The film also launched a number of bright careers. Besides Welles, Joseph Cotton and Agnes Moorehead went on to long and prominent film careers.

If `Citizen Kane’ is not the best film of the century it is certainly one of them. Its influence on a generation of filmmakers cannot be ignored in the equation. People who stare this film and ask, “What’s the gargantuan deal? ” are comparing it with new films that have borrowed from this film’s techniques and undergone 60 years of evolution. It’s like going help to Kitty Hawk and saying, “What’s the gigantic deal, the flight only lasted a few seconds.”

There is only one rating to give to a film of such monumental importance. It is the consummate 10.

This is a big DVD situation for any fan of Citizen Kane… it was ranked best film of all time by AFI. It was also nominated for 9 academy awards and won for best recent screenplay. This box location includes 3 discs as I have listed below…

Disk #1 – Citizen Kane (the Feature Length Film including the Movie Premiere Newsreel, Rare Production Photographs, Storyboards, and more)

Disk #2 – The Battle Over Citizen Kane (the Academy Award Nominated Feature Length Documentary detailing the bitter struggle between film director Orson Welles and newspaper magnate, William Randolph Hearst)

Disk #3 – RKO 281 (Golden Globe Nominee for Best Mini-Series, Best Actor, and Best Actress, this HBO drama is filled with tantalizing performances from some of Hollywood’s greatest stars)

In addition, this box dwelling includes a collectible senitype with an image from the motion relate and its corresponding 35mm film frame. Plus, a 16-page commemorative booklet is included that also features images from the motion describe.

The one negative about this box position is that (although you watch it in Amazon.com’s describe) … the theatrical poster is not included. I swear this is because it would have to be folded and then would not be in honorable condition for framing or hanging. Therefore, they include a “free” mail-in offer to gather it sent to you… the rep… there is a shipping and handling charge. I was disappointed by what I contemplate to be an sinister shipping fee, especially after shelling out the $$$ to choose this location.

I quiet gave this site 5-stars because it is such a spacious movie!

A tour de force for Pattinson as he takes center-stage in a film that has him playing a very different role that he did in Twilight for positive. Pattinson fans will thoroughly savor this film. I idea the unusual “Poltergeist” an wonderful film tubby of substantial atmosphere, likeable characters, and nicely done frights. Remember the paranormal researcher pulling his face apart in the mirror? The crawling slab of steak loaded with maggots? The corpse filled pit in the backyard? The young son counting the seconds between booms of disclose and flashes of lightening? The unusual “Poltergeist” had thrills aplenty. And then it all fell apart. Hollywood, in its inimitably greedy style, promptly laid the groundwork for a sequel. Why not? The suits knew the dupes would line up at the box office like qualified microscopic sheep, willing to shell out millions of dollars for what is essentially a rehash of the recent trouble. Well, “Poltergeist II” is better than your average sequel to a shatter hit, but objective barely. What will really feel like a stone in your shoe is the sequel to the sequel, the heap o’ screeching metal and flaming wreckage that is “Poltergeist III.” The final entry in the series is so awful, so utterly devoid of any of the elements that fueled the success of the unique, that my DVD player loudly protested–with sounds I will not recreate here–my efforts to discover it.

“Poltergeist II” reacquaints us with the hapless Freeling family several months after the nightmare depicted in the first film. Unexcited homeless after watching their tremendous, unusual abode implode into thin air, Steve and Diane Freeling (Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams) along with their children Robby and Carol Anne (Oliver Robins and Heather O’Rourke), now live with Diane’s mother Jess far from the dismal ghost and corpse filled suburbs. Steve now sells vacuum cleaners for a living instead of right estate, and the couple spends most of their time fighting with the insurance company over compensation for the disappearing house. Grandma Jess likes the understanding of the family staying with her even as she notices Carol Anne’s astonishing clairvoyant powers. When Grams dies in her sleep, the nightmare begins anew as the poltergeists from the first movie track down Carol Anne. The spirits discover to glean a procedure to the “light” (don’t we all? ), and won’t rest until they score their method. Meanwhile, psychic investigator Tangina (Zelda Rubinstein) and an Indian shaman named Taylor (Will Sampson) investigate the region of the Freeling’s destroyed home. It turns out that a religious zealot named Kane brought a bunch of followers out to California in the 19th century and promptly killed them in the name of utopian glory. It is the ghosts of Kane and his followers who discover the attentions of Carol Anne, with Kane himself turning up in the flesh to torment the Freelings.

We should rightly classify “Poltergeist III” not as a fright film but as a wretchedness tale. On this outing, Carol Anne (once again played by the indomitable Heather O’Rourke) turns up in a Chicago high rise where she lives with her Uncle Bruce (Tom Skerritt), her Aunt Pat (Nancy Allen), and her unfriendly cousin Donna (Lara Flynn Boyle doing her best to gape like Winona Ryder) . Zelda Rubinstein reprises her role as the psychic Tangina for a third time. Clear enough, irregular things originate happening when a nerdy school counselor hypnotizes Carol Anne and opens a doorway through which the valiant Kane returns. That’s about all that happens in this schlockfest, although director Gary Sherman tricks up this installment with lots of dry ice and mirrors that provide tiny in the plot of chills or thrills. “Poltergeist III” is a cheap, cheesy movie that deserves the obscurity in which it currently resides.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Poltergeist II/Poltergeist III! Click Here

Fans of the recent movie will bask in the reappearance of Craig Nelson, JoBeth Williams, Oliver Robins, and Heather O’Rourke in the second entry. I always notion some of the charm of the novel came from the slightly bawdy antics and spacious chemistry of this cast. Nelson and Williams in particular have mammoth presence onscreen, and truly do approach off as a married couple impartial trying to raise their family in peace. Will Sampson’s often amusing Taylor character is greatly appreciated, as is the downright injurious Julian Beck as the depraved Reverend Kane. Beck’s emaciated appearance and creepy accent do worthy to elevate this sequel from the realm of mediocrity. As for the spooky paranormal encounters, Nelson coughs up a mutated tequila worm, Robins battles his braces in the bathroom, and Williams shrieks her scheme through a couple more corpse scenes. Overall, “Poltergeist II” is superior. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about “Poltergeist III.” Nancy Allen and Tom Skerritt have the all the allure of accelerate bumps, Boyle grates as a giggling teenybopper airhead, O’Rourke is wooden as Carol Anne, and Rubinstein’s hammy performance attains tale proportions. The effects are acceptable, but the dialogue is clumsy and the pacing wearisome. What really killed the movie for me were the behind 1980’s fashion styles seen throughout the film.

Thanks (I believe) to MGM for releasing these films in their praiseworthy double feature collection. As usual, the only extras for both films are a trailer and scene selection menu. The disc presents both films in widescreen formats with gracious relate transfers. I reflect it would have been nice to have a commentary track with the actors for the second film; I would have liked to hear Nelson and Williams talk about their roles. Two actresses associated with the “Poltergeist” franchise, Dominique Dunne and Heather O’Rourke, have since died. Dunne’s boyfriend murdered her after the first film and O’Rourke died during surgery. If you have seen the first film, you will probably want to peer these two as well. Unbiased exhaust rude caution with “Poltergeist III,” a movie so dreadful it has caused uncouth cranial trauma to those unpleasant souls who scrutinize it.

I’ve been really disappointed at the method MGM has treated the POLTERGEIST trilogy on DVD. First things first, the unusual POLTERGEIST was a MEGA-hit grossing over 70 million in the US alone and eventually grossing over 150 million in the international BOX OFFICE. So it’s beautiful to say that MGM made ALOT of money on that particular film, so why is it that it was given shoddy treatment when released on DVD? It was released only with a theatrical trailer as an EXTRA. The first sequel, POLTERGEIST 2 was a decent-sized hit in 1986 grossing over 40 million in the US alone and let’s not forget that the Special Effects were nominated for an OSCAR. Again, this film was released only with a theatrical trailer as an EXTRA. The least succesful film of the series was POLTERGEIST 3 which opened in the top 5 the first week but went downhill after that. However the film does have a CULT and fanatical following – many (dare I say it) have liked it even more than the unique to the scare of “fresh” POLTERGEIST loyalist. Again, it is presented along with P2 with only a theatrical trailer as a bonus. Why is MGM being so stingy? ? Especially when other dismay movies that weren’t as accepted are being released in awesome DVD packaging and loaded with extras.

That said, I must say that I’m blissful to watch both of these movies FINALLY released on DVD. Despite the LACK OF EXTRAS they are both presented in WIDESCREEN format and the relate quality on both films is Obedient. Movies that are heavy in special effects need to be seen WIDESCREEN because you realize how great you DON’T ogle when it’s formatted to fit your T.V mask. This is specially evident in P2. Let’s honest hope that MGM decides to re-release these films in a more deserving DVD package.

POLTERGEIST 2 was originally released in 1986 and did blooming well-behaved business at the BOX OFFICE. Although many dismissed it as unbiased another “pointless” sequel, it has stood the test of time due to it’s interpret (and spectacular) special effects and the performance of a very talented actor named Julian Beck who gives one of the creepiest performances EVER in a panic movie. Although he does not procure powerful camouflage time, the character of REVEREND KANE will send chills up your spine especially during the scene in which Craig T Nelson and the unpleasant Minister have a few words on the patio of the family’s Arizona home. Kane’s demeaner changes from satisfactory to absolutely menacing. Nasty emanates from his peep and if you apprehension easily, he will burn a permanent image of grotesqueness and anxiety in your sub conscious. Truly eerie. Other highlights include the now rank VOMIT CREATURE scene and the hilarious (but elegant) BRACES scene.

POLTERGEIST 2:The Other Side is a spectacular and creepy excursion into the supernatural. It may not be as pleasurable as the modern but it does have a darker, more menacing atmosphere than it’s predessesor and it moves at a faster ride.

POLTERGEIST 3, as previously mentioned was the only film in the franchise that did not RAKE in the Tall BUCKS but has since it’s release in 1988, obtained a trusty following. P3 is a Esteem IT or Abominate IT type of experience. Those who loathe it understanding it as an INSULT to the novel and curse the film for existing (I always laugh at the scheme it’s so unfairly crucified by lover’s of the current. Was the recent POLTERGEIST THAT Capable that any movie that pretends to equal it IS STONED TO DEATH?? Whatever!) Others however, indulge in it for what it is- an imaginative ghost tale position in an unconventional setting and with some very creepy and inventive mirror effects. I give P3 alot of credit for trying something original and steering the series in a novel direction. The Special effects are quite beneficial. They were filmed live mechanically and it does give the film a rather GHOSTLY and MYSTERIOUS atmosphere. Anyone who states today’s CGI effects gape better are sadly improper. Computer Generated Special Effects explore satisfactory in a fantasy element such as The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Harry Potter etc, but it has no situation in a fright movie. I have said this before and I’ll say it again, CGI effects makes today’s anxiety movies peruse like video games and cartoons. They’re impartial not scary and I know many dismay movie buffs will agree. I’m starting to loose hope with today’s panic films. I have yet to ogle a Valid, SCARY movie ( I mediate THE RING was the last scary movie that I actually liked) . Getting abet to P3, the mechanical effects are creative, imaginative, ingenious and quite fun. There are no floating phantasms or monsters like the earlier films but you do net fingers poking out of mirrors, a frozen swimming pool, a breathing door, a ghostly mist freezing everything in it’s path and a astounding and slimy BIRTH scene. POLTERGEIST 3’s main flaw however is in it’s passe and unsatisfying climax. Especially when compared to the original’s nail-biting and heavenly climax and even POLTERGEIST 2’s surreal, fantasy inspired ending. However, we now know that this was due to Heather O Rourke’s untimely passing before the film wrapped. Gary Sherman who didn’t want to continue filming without Heather, had to re-write the ending and a body double (or “dummy”- I can’t remember which one) was aged in Heather’s station. So if the ending feels rushed and uninspired- it was but P3 does fade along at a mammoth stir up until that final frame. And one final stamp to P3 haters- give the film a demolish. Many will agree that P3 doesn’t even advance end to the unique but not many fear movies do- Let’s not forget that the Awe GENRE only has a few movies that are considered Right CLASSICS. And POLTERGEIST 3 looks quite pleasurable especially when compared to the other GA-ZILLION alarm movies released throughout the 70’s, 80’s and even 90’s- most of which were brainless slasher fares that had nothing more than excess violence and nudity on indicate. The POLTERGEIST films never stooped down to that level. And I have shown P3 to several of my friends and family members and many of them have enojoyed it and YES unique POLTERGEIST fans, I know this may sound hard to acquire but many of them have liked it EVEN MORE than the Speilberg/Hooper classic. Even my picky 15 year conventional niece states it’s the “BEST IN THE SERIES” and has watched it at least 10 times.

Anyone wanting to add 2 enjoying and quite repugnant films to their DVD collection should pick up this MGM double feature. Although lacking in EXTRAS, the films witness and sound Astronomical and you can’t beat the trace. Let’s objective hope MGM releases these films in a more estimable and satisfying DVD. They’re haunting additons to a CLASSIC CHILLER.

“The Hills Have Eyes” is Wes Craven’s long awaited follow up to his first film, the grindhouse narrative “The Last House on the Left.” In the latter film, the creator of such awe staples as “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Bellow” delved deep into the recesses of human cruelty to pronounce the yarn of two young women abducted, tortured, and killed by a shrimp gang of escaped convicts. Through a twist of fate, the parents of one of these girls meet up with her killers and valid their maintain designate of abominable revenge. “The Last House on the Left,” although not incredibly gory in its theatrical crop, is a nauseating, seedy diminutive nightmare that received an wonderful amount of unpleasant press even as it raked in money at the few places willing to prove the movie. Craven’s subsequent career virtually assured that his early work would receive the DVD treatment. What’s surprising is how comprehensive a treatment “Last House” and “Hills” received. “The Hills Have Eyes” offers up a plethora of gripping and informative extras on two discs. There is so remarkable material of interest on these DVDs that it’s easy to lose discover of the film itself.

There is nothing more innocent and heartwarming than a family taking a amble across the country. In the case of retired cop Spacious Bob Carter (Russ Grieve), he’s taking his extended family out into the desert in search of a silver mine. His wife Ethel (Virginia Vincent) is along for the fling, as are daughter Brenda (Susan Lanier) and son Bobby (Robert Houston) . Also tagging along in a mobile home is Carter’s married daughter Lynne (Dee Wallace-Stone), her husband Doug (Martin Speer), and their infant child. Rounding out the list are the two family dogs, one of whom will play an necessary role in the nightmare to near. Carter and his clan end off at a decrepit gas position rush by Fred (John Steadman) in order to ask for directions. Fred issues dire warnings to Carter about heading out into the desert. The cop, undeterred by such nonsense, proceeds to drive his entire family into the middle of an Air Force bombing range. When a couple of jet fighters buzz the Carter site wagon, Tremendous Bob panics and veers off the road. Now stranded miles from the highway, the family takes stock of the station. The automobile is seriously damaged, so Spacious Bob walks befriend to civilization while the family sets up camp. Listen to that dismay music rise with a swell!

The Carter clan should have listened to crotchety worn Fred. It turns out that a family of cannibals lives out in the mountains reach where the car crashed, a family headed by Fred’s only son Jupiter (James Whitworth) . The gas set owner tells Bob Carter a strange legend about the birth of his son, describing the youth as a cruel, misshapen child cursed with a violent temperament. Fred eventually threw the kid out into the desert after a particularly bad crime convinced the father that the son was a valid wretchedness. Now Jupiter has a family of his hold, including Pluto (Michael Berryman) and Mars (Lance Gordon), with which to terrorize anyone unlucky enough to saunter into their lair. As Substantial Bob races attend to his loved ones, the film shifts focus to the family left encourage on the bombing range. Determined enough, Jupiter and his abhorrent offspring swoop down on the gloomy outsiders, killing two of the family members and stealing Lynne’s baby. The rest of the film deals with the survivors’ attempts to retrieve the infant and destroy Jupiter and his pack of cannibals. It’s a battle to the carry out as Doug, Brenda, and Bobby rely on their wits to defeat stronger, better armed foes.

“The Hills Have Eyes” is really a film about civilization versus barbarism. It’s also a film based loosely on the Sawney Bean family, a staunch life pack of inbred cannibals who preyed on travelers over in the English isles three centuries ago. The film relies heavily on shock value rather than over the top gore, an come that generally works even if it is a bit disappointing (I’d like to contemplate more cannibal action, personally) . And there is nothing more hideous than the horrid visage of Michael Berryman to send an audience over the edge. If I had to device a represent of what I belief an inbred cannibal killer looked like, it would probably resemble Berryman. His misshapen bald head, buggy eyes, and malformed mouth add considerable to the impact of the movie. He is, in fact, almost as horrid as some of the performances in the film. Most of the actors do a friendly job with their roles, but Virginia Vincent goes needlessly over the top as matriarch Ethel. Talk about laying the ham on thick! Shelley Winters has nothing on this lady! I’m surprised Ethel and her relatives had to build up with cannibals at all, frankly. You would consider the planes saw Colossal Bob go off the road and would teach the excellent authorities. You would also consider that a pack of cannibals couldn’t survive for long on a military bombing range. Oh well, best not to ask too many questions.

The supplements on the DVD are quite great. The best feature is the commentary track with Wes Craven and producer Peter Locke. They entertain themselves endlessly by poking fun at the unfolding hijinks. After listening to their comments, check out the interviews with cast and crew, the Craven career retrospective, and the alternate ending. Every alarm film fan will want to check this DVD out. Even if you’ve seen the movie before, the extras are first-rate enough to merit another gawk.

The remake is a joke compared to Craven’s extraordinary 1977 current.

Young kids have no clue what a agreeable terror movie is all about and that’s why remakes actually earn money(actually most of them lose money) I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, anyone that knows anything about anxiety movies realizes there is worthy more to it than magnificent people on cover, loud bangs and CG effects.

Craven’s fable about a family on there procedure to California finish off in the middle of the desert looking for silver. When their Vehicle breaks down they are in for the fight of their lives. A cannibal family living in the hills gape a means to survive and view on feasting on the “current meat”.

So the lighting isn’t astronomical, so the effects aren’t as suited SO WHAT!!!!!!!!! I’d fancy to leer ‘any’ director choose Craven’s budget for this film or Tobe Hooper’s budget from “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and beget half of a movie today. Directors today can’t even reflect of an current tale.

Real fans of the genre will relish the originals, the classics such as “Halloween”, “Unlit Christmas”, “The Fog”, “The Exorcist”, “The Putrid Boring” etc. People who level-headed need to learn about the genre will recall the remake fakes.

“The Hills Have Eyes” (1977) one of the best movies of the dismay genre hands down!

I remember “The Sword in the Stone” as a widescreen movie, so I was dismayed to fetch that Disney had released this though-provoking popular to DVD in a cropped/pan-and-scan format. However, on further investigation, I discovered that, to my surprise, “The Sword in the Stone” was not a widescreen motion report… at least not originally. Apparently, like “101 Dalmations” and other films of the gradual 1950s and early 1960s, “The Sword in the Stone” was made to be projected in one of two formats: either widescreen or full-frame, depending on the theater where it was shown. It seems that the Disney animators designed the film with a bit of ‘extra picture’ at the top and bottom of each frame; that intention this ‘extra’ could be slash off without ruining the image in theaters playing it in widescreen. In other theaters, and on television, the film could be shown in a standard full-frame (1.33:1) format. So, according to Disney, the unusual full-frame DVD of “TSITS” is indeed the film in it’s “modern format’. Admittedly, it may not be the intention that most of us remember this titanic minute movie, but it is the intention the folks at Disney made it.

Sometime in the medieval ages, there is a epic about this magic stone that contains a sword and according to the account, who so pulls out the sword from the anvil shall become king of all England. Though many tried to pull it, no miracle and the sword was forgotten for ages in an age of no laws, brutality and darkness in impartial which magician Merlin has distress with the days of no kings, he then meets a young squire named “Wart” ( a.k.a. Arthur) whom is a problemic young man with a mean foster father and broad foster brother, Merlin then trains Wart through education in order to become more social and on adventures that will lead him to pull the sword out of the stone.

An underrated disney classic that is a scrumptious epic with capable animation for it’s time, nice songs like “Higitus Figitus” and humor makes this a distinct must have for the animation DVD collector everywhere.

Our son LOVES the Little Einsteins and we watch it every morning on TV! I was so excited to have a Little Einstein DVD with a Christmas Theme! However, it was a little different than I expected and it left me a little disappointed. First, there isn’t a menu for you to select which episode you want to watch you just have to skip through if you want to watch them in a different order. Of the 4 episodes only 2 are really Christmas themed. The first one is about show and tell(no reference to Christmas at all in this one). The second one is titled Christmas wish but I was sad that they didn’t choose a Christmas song or music for the “special music”. The third one is a nutcracker ballet theme and was glad that it was set to the nutcracker ballet music. The fourth one is a winter episode but I was surprised that they chose to have the music be a repeat song from a different episode…and even Quincy’s silly song is a repeat from another episode. I was just hoping for something more Christmasy I guess. The good thing about this DVD is because it isn’t that Christmasy you could let your kids watch it all year so you get your money’s worth that way. My son loves it and I like it; I would have loved it if they would have made all the episodes about Christmas with Christmas music. Oh well.

My wee one loves everything Christmas and everything Little Einsteins, so this DVD, LITTLE EINSTEINS: THE CHRISTMAS WISH, was the perfect Christmas gift for her. She has watched this DVD innumerable times since Christmas, and I know that she will continue to watch it throughout the year. LITTLE EINSTEINS: THE CHRISTMAS WISH is clearly a new favorite.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Little Einsteins: The Christmas Wish! Click Here

Like all Little Einsteins DVDs, LITTLE EINSTEINS: THE CHRISTMAS WISH contains several episodes, one of which had not been previously shown on TV at the time of release. The four episodes include “The Christmas Wish,” “The Northern Night Light,” “The Wind-Up Toy Prince,” and “Show and Tell.” As always, each episode contains a featured phrase of classical music and a featured art piece. Music selections from this DVD include Fur Elise, Flight of the Bumble Bee, The Nutcracker Suite, and Carmen Suite No. 1. Art works included are “Starry Night” by Vincent Van Gogh, “The Road in front of Saint-Siméon Farm in Winter” by Claude Monet, “Little Dancer” by Edgar Degas, and Mayan architecture.

My 3 ½ year old has been watching Little Einsteins since before she could speak, and in our house, they can do no wrong. My child recognizes many classical music pieces and can ask for them by name. She also recognizes many art pieces when she sees them out of her familiar context. She can actually tell me what episode of Little Einsteins she first saw them in. I am constantly amazed and dumbfounded by what she has learned and retained.

If you have a Little Einstein lover in your house, then LITTLE EINSTEINS: THE CHRISTMAS WISH is a perfect gift, at any time of year. It will get lots of play, and your kids will learn to recognize and appreciate classical music and beautiful art. Disney has done a remarkable job with this series. Kudos for such quality programming.

It was planetary pandemonium for animation fans when the creators of “Batman: The Intelligent Series” unveiled the monster hit series “Justice League” help in 2001. Taking the premise of Hanna-Barbera’s classic “Superfriends” [of uniting heroes to fight corrupt on a global scale as originally done in the humorous books] and giving it a 21st century upgrade, the show’s producers boldly took the time to flesh out the members of the League, adding a depth to what motivates them as heroes. This was never done with the Justice League of the 70s & 80s. Justice League featured Emmy-worthy production values in spicy storytelling and shimmering belief and care in dispute casting. Not to mention a stunning main title theme by Lolita Ritmanis. Given the show’s musty tone, fans were dumbfounded that DVDs of Justice League were only released as single disc “DC Comics Kids Collection” volumes with no more than 3-4 eps instead of season sets. (Note: If you possess all of the novel JL volumes then you already have Justice League – Season One episodes 1-15, and should assume the remaining 11 episodes plus the queer EXTRAS on this state before deciding.)

It only took ‘em FOUR years (since the first JL volume released), but Warner Home Video will finally release the LONG-AWAITED Justice League – Season One DVD on March 21st! This 4-disc (575 min.) area features all 26 episodes (multi-part arcs) ; Full-Frame (1.33:1) video (fans campaigned to WHV for this format with following seasons to be in widescreen as originally curious) ; English audio; and English, Spanish, French subtitles. As I child I loved Davey and Goliath. I have to admit I calm do at 52. This series teaches wonderful manners, kindness, telling the truth, how to treat others and be mindful of their feelings. Not to purchase what isn’t yours, obedience to parents, how cheating is deplorable. All the things that any god parent would want for themselves.

It doesn’t preach or talk about any certian churches. It is not talking about salvation and hell..nothing like that. It is produced by the Evangelical Lutheran Church but you hear nothing of that in the programs.

I highly recommend this to every parent.

A friend of mine gave me this collection to my four year faded. I must admit that I was objective as keen in watching these cartoons as my son, in that I grew up on “Davey and Goliath” and I hadn’t seen them in years (I don’t know why the networks don’t exhibit D&G on TV anymore.)

In any case, these cartoons are better than I remember. My four year archaic loves the cartoons. They are engrossing and they gain estimable, wholesome, non-violent stories; which also touch upon Christian values such as forgiveness and telling the truth.

These cartoons were produced by the Lutheran Church, but they can accomidate any Protestant denomination, and even (I imagine) the Roman Catholics. My wife and I are Methodist, but the friend who gave me this collection is Catholic and he said that he bought a position for his fill kids. I also grew up in a heavily Catholic neighborhood, and all my friends who were Catholic archaic to ogle D&G as well. It’s objective pleasant dapper fun for family members of all ages. It might also provide an oppurtunity to discuss religious and lawful values with children at home or in Sunday school or CCD classes.

The only yelp I have is as follows: I vaguely remember an Easter episode that is not included in this space. There is a Christmas, Fresh Year and Halloween episode, but no Easter special. Other than that: ample memories that I can like all over again with my puny boy.
